Providing free educational resources online for people around the world may not seem like the best way to run a solar business. Today's guest, Joe Ordia, proves that creating value for people in the form of free solar and home battery backup education online is not only a cheap way to get in front of people shopping for solar, but also builds trust which ultimately leads to more inbound solar leads. Watch as Mo interviews Joe Ordia about his journey of becoming one of the most trusted resources in the United States Solar and Storage Community. Thinking Green is about teaching the world how it actually is possible to transition to sustainable energy. Today's episode is a great example of how many Americans are choosing to downsize in order to unlock energy freedom as well as energy resilience. Andrew Claudio is a pioneer in the solar and storage space. He was there when solar and batteries were only in their infancy. Now, he lives with his wife and cat in a fully off-grid RV with solar panels, batteries, and an EV charger. He aims to unlock this energy freedom for as many people as possible through education and spreading love and acceptance everywhere he goes.

Renewable energy should be convenient, resilient, and flexible for your lifestyle– as the Founder & CEO of SPAN, Arch Rao wants to modernize how you power your home by bringing household electric panels into the age of smart homes, so your electric panel can do more for you and your family.

SPAN Panels are digital electric panels for the home that easily integrate with both existing electrical systems and modern renewable energy and smart home devices. Traditional electric panel technology has largely gone without updates for decades, but SPAN is developing technologies that make clean energy accessible and simple, empowering homeowners to better control and understand their energy usage.

On this episode of Thinking Green, Mo and Arch discuss why decarbonization is critical, and why SPAN believes in developing products that speak for themselves and are built to make a difference now– no matter where someone is on their renewable energy journey, and without waiting for large-scale regulatory changes.

What You’ll Learn:

We are relying on centuries-old energy technology to sustain our daily energy practices–but we’re now reaching a point where that infrastructure is starting to fail. In this transitional time, it’s more important than ever to look to companies like Enphase and Good Faith Energy to learn how to generate and distribute our own energy, and to create a clean-tech future.

Allison Johnson is the Chief Marketing Officer of Enphase energy, which is a leading global supplier of microinverters and other clean tech products. For Jason, environmental sustainability is important. But more than that, personal sustainability is important--that is, finding work that lights your inner fire and makes you want to go out into the world and do good. He’s found that life at Rivian.

Since transitioning out of the oil and gas industry in 2017, native Texan Jason Cortes has turned to renewable and rechargeable energies. In between, he worked to help the community install and service clean energy solutions, and, ultimately, future-proof their businesses. He is now the RSM of the start-up Rivian, working on EVs and building the future himself.

On today’s episode of Thinking Green, Jason brings his oil and gas background to the conversation about renewable energies. He moved to the industry in order to chase his passion, and give meaning to his labors--which he’s done, as he has now spent five years making EV chargers publicly accessible. Tune in today to hear them jam about educating the public, current barriers to entry, and the future for many petroleum-based vehicle companies as they pledge to become all-electric.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How the new energy economy came to the petroleum industry, gas stations, and, in turn, Jason
  • How long the gas station model will continue to live before it is replaced with different technology,
  • Why some people are still hesitant to buy an EV
  • What attracted Jason to Rivian, and what he thinks about the future of EVs

Recycling isn’t just about the blue bin on the curb anymore. People like Melissa and Renee are connecting renewable companies together so that they can recycle on a massive scale, and limit the amount of wasted equipment. Because of them, many companies have developed their own relationships and helped the industry use every last drop of solar power.

Renee Kuehl is the director of sales and marketing for EnergyBin. Melissa Schmid is EnergyBin’s marketing communication manager. EnergyBin is a business-to-business network for solar companies to deal sustainably with their extra stock. They’re here today to talk about their business and the impact of recycling renewable infrastructure.

On this episode of Thinking Green, Mohammed interviews Melissa and Renee about their experience with EnergyBin and renewable energy in general. All three of them have years of experience scaling recycling to the corporate level, and helping both individuals and businesses with their sustainable energy needs. We hear a lot about the first part of the renewable energy cycle, and now Mo is bringing you a chance to hear about the next part--what happens after the equipment is used, and how the aftermath can be sustainable too.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How EnergyBin came to life, and how it’s impacted the global renewable energy industry
  • Why it’s so important to serve all links of the renewable supply chain to create a successful industry
  • What can be done about the waste that is sometimes produced by renewable energy, and how it can help underprivileged communities worldwide
  • And so much more!
