Brett Lars Underwood is a St. Louis poet and promoter. His verse and riddles have been published by 52nd City and included in FLOOD STAGE: An Anthology of Saint Louis Poets. His work has been heard at the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts SOUND WAVES series and with the HEARDING CATS COLLECTIVE. He is the former host of THE NO SHOW (KDHX 88.1 FM, 2000-07). Poet and story teller K. Curtis Lyle delves into how music and Native languages influences his poetry. This is a poetry and music class combined. Brett Underwood talks with poet Richard Newman about living in far off lands and his new book Blues at the End of the World. They also discuss Newmans stint as Editor and Executive Director of River Styx in Saint Louis.

"Richard Newman is the author of three previous books of poetry: Borrowed Towns (Word Press, 2005), Domestic Fugues (Steel Toe Books, 2011), and All the Wasted Beauty of the World (Able Muse Press, 2014). Domestic Fugues won the Steel Toe Books Formal Poetry Award. He is also the author of the novel Graveyard of the Gods (Blank Slate Press, 2016). His poems have appeared in American Journal of Poetry, Best American Poetry, Boulevard, Crab Orchard Review, Literary Matters, Poetry East, Tar River Poetry, and many other periodicals and anthologies. For over 20 years Richard served as Editor and Executive Director of River Styx. Currently he is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing and World Literature at Al Akhawayn University in Morocco, where he lives with his wife and son."

Brett Underwood speaks with Poet Laureate Jane Ibur from the famed CBGB in Saint Louis, the greatest dive bar in America.

Jane Ibur was appointed Poet Laureate for the City of St. Louis on April 12, 2019.

Ibur began writing poems in middle school which developed into a career of writing, teaching, and promoting poetry. An alumna of Webster University, her teaching efforts include being a founding poet educator with Community Arts Training program of the Regional Arts Commission. 

For nineteen years she co-produced/co-hosted Literature for the Halibut on KDHX community radio.

As a poet, Ibur authored two collections of poems and has been included in over 50 literary anthologies and magazines.

Brett interviews writer Thomas Crone who was a south city regular. Thomas discusses his time with 52nd City Magazine (52ndcity.com), River Front Times, KDHX and Saint Louis Magazine.
