Christian Geeks Rockcast

The 80's to early 90's were a unique and golden era of Christian music. Every genre and style had amazing artists creating high quality music and solid messages. Christian Geeks Classic Rockcast explores this era through reviewing our favorite albums, giving a history, and interviewing the artists to give their perspective. Rock on!

Available Episodes 10

On this album, we discuss one of the greatest one hit wonders of Christian rock history, Rage of Angels. This Conneticut-based band sounded like they were straight off the Sunset Strip, but it quickly fell apart when mainstream band Steelheart poached a couple members.

With episode 77, we had to revisit the 77s, and what better album to review than the self-titled 1987 Seventy Sevens. So many 7s! This album, also known as the Island record, was supposed to catapult the band to stardom, but a little band called U2 had other plans.

With the Newsboys in the news lately (no pun intented), we thought we would go back and cover their 1988 debut album with Refuge Records, Read All About It. For this release, they were a young Australian band with completely different members and sound than the one today.

On our final episode of a great 2024, Steve and Britt discuss the third album from the lengendary band Adam Again, Homeboys. Often overshadowed by their genius next album, Dig, 1990's Homeboys proves to still be an incredible listen even after almost 35 years.

On episode 72, Steve and Britt break down Shout's debut album, "It Won't Be Long." Ken Tamplin, from the band Joshua, and Idle Cure's Chuck King got together and wrote some great tunes, and they recorded and released them on Frontline records in 1988. We also talk about a lot of news and generally have a great time!

For this episode, we finally get to Steve's favorite album of all time, the 77s "Sticks and Stones." This album of demos and that didn't make it for one reason or another turned into an amazing collection of material from arguably one of the best rock bands of all time. Enjoy!

We are back after a few weeks off to discuss the incredible debut from PFR, "Pray for Rain." (originally a self-titled album before band name change) We realize that going from Tourniquet to PFR might seem strange, but it's what makes us the GEEKS we are.
