Seed Time Money with Bob & Linda Lotich

We have a different take on money than most financial experts. Kind of like if Chip and Joanna talked about money. You know, down-to-earth, approachable, easy to understand, and even fun. We aren’t going to judge you for your past mistakes and we haven’t forgotten the pain of being broke so we can relate. We believe simple always beats complicated. And we believe money isn’t the goal, but is simply a tool that can be used to fulfill what God has called us to do. Success with money. Success in Marriage. Success as a Christian. That’s what we’re after. If you want that too, then you’ll love the show. We help you spend less time thinking about money while getting better results. The SeedTime Money podcast is where we (Bob & Linda Lotich) share the mindsets, beliefs and strategies we used to go from being debt-ridden and broke to: - paying off $400k of debt - eliminating all guilt and shame with money - building multiple streams of passive income - honoring God with our finances - learning how to save & invest wisely - having financial unity in our marriage - giving $1 million by age 40 Occasionally we interview guests like Mark Batterson, Annie F. Downs, Joshua Becker, Carlos Whittaker, Crystal Paine, Jordan Raynor, and other Biblically-minded Christian thought leaders as we seek to connect our faith with our personal finances. And if you like what you hear on the podcast, consider diving deeper with us by grabbing our award-winning book ‘Simple Money, Rich Life’ or take your spouse or small group through our 6-week on-demand workshop 'True Financial Freedom'. Hey friends, I recently shared how God helped Linda and me pay off our mortgage in just 9 months, and while hundreds of commenters were thrilled at what God did, some questioned the intentions or priorities behind it. If you've ever wondered why God would answer "superficial" prayers over what might seem like more critical issues, this episode is a must-listen for you.

🎙 What We're Covering:

  • Why Would God Help with "Selfish Prayers"?

    • Addressing the doubts and concerns raised about why God would help someone pay off debt rather than solve world hunger or stop child abuse.

    • Linda and I get it, guys. We've cried our eyes out over the injustice in the world. We share in your heartbreak, and I talk about that emotional conflict

    • If you've ever wrestled with the morality of praying for personal financial blessings, this is your episode.
    • We're all about authentic and real conversations here, so no beating around the bush. We tackle tough questions head-on.
    • For those of you who want to increase your financial giving, get inspired to see how financial freedom can exponentially grow your impact.

We're not just talking dollars and cents; we're talking about soul-stirring, life-changing stuff here. The kind that makes you rethink not just your finances but your whole life's purpose.

Trust me; you don't want to miss this episode. It could very well be the paradigm shift you need to understand the intertwined beauty of financial stewardship and divine purpose.

See you on the inside! 🎧

In this episode we are chatting about the strategies and techniques I use for effective learning. I truly believe that the art of learning is one of the most powerful tools God has given us, and I want to share the process that has been helping me in case you find it valuable as well!

If you're looking to expand your knowledge, solve specific problems, or even just become better at what you do, this episode is for you!

Here's what we covered:

  • My personal love for learning (spoiler: it's like Linda's love for milk chocolate chips! 🍫).

  • The strategy I use when trying to grasp a new topic and how this compares to assembling a puzzle.

  • How Tim Ferriss and his unique learning challenges inspire our perspective on gaining knowledge rapidly.

  • The importance of recognizing where you have knowledge gaps and the humility to fill them.

  • My recent journey into understanding soil macronutrients for better gardening (it's more fascinating than you might think)!

  • The difference in approach between learning something entirely new vs. refining what you already know.

  • Why the order or sequence in which you learn things is more critical than ever in today's age of information overload.

🔑 Key Takeaways:

  • Approach learning with humility. Being open-minded allows you to absorb more and view things from different perspectives.

  • Sequencing your learning is vital. Think of it as building a foundation and then constructing the house.

  • Sometimes, it's about searching for that one game-changing nugget amidst the wealth of information you already know.

Resources Mentioned:

Final Thoughts: In an age of information overload, it's not about what you learn but how you learn. Make sure you're not just collecting data but synthesizing it in a way that can truly enrich your life and help you achieve your God-given purpose.

Tune into the SeedTime Money podcast and discover the techniques to elevate your learning process. And hey, if you're interested in a SeedTime pickleball tournament, let us know!

So if you don't know our story, we have a pretty remarkable thing that God did in our lives with our mortgage. Essentially we went from being 2 years into a 30 year mortgage and then after obeying God within 9 months we had it paid off!

We have been sharing about this a bit on Instagram and it kickstarted a Reel that went viral-ish and has stimulated a lot of conversations, so we figured it would be good to create a full-length podcast discussing the whole thing.

So grab your coffee or your smoothie, or whatever you like to sip on, and let's dive into an episode that's all about dreaming big, acting boldly, and watching God work miracles. 🙌

  4. Cultural Influence: Chris passionately believes that the body of Christ should reclaim its seat at the table in cultural conversations. Hear why and how you can be a part of it.

  1. Chris's remarkable story involving Vice President Joe Biden, some ice cream, and how it catapulted him into the national spotlight.

  2. The importance of having a "why" in your business and life.

Today's episode is a special one, and I'm excited to share it with you. We're diving into a topic that's been on my mind a lot lately, and I think it's going to resonate with many of you.

What We're Talking About Today:

  1. A Fascinating Book Passage: I'm reading from "Five Wealth Secrets" by Craig Hill, and it's sparking some deep thoughts about financial principles in the Bible.

  2. Jewish Wealth vs. Christian Wealth: We're exploring an intriguing question: Why do Jewish people seem to prosper more financially? We're diving into the numbers and what they might mean.

  3. Old Testament Wisdom: Are we missing out on blessings by ignoring Old Testament principles? We're talking about tithing, the Sabbath, and more. It's not about being under the law; it's about understanding the blessings attached to God's instructions.

  4. Living Out the Principles: It's one thing to know Bible verses; it's another to live them out. We're challenging ourselves to study and live out the principles, both Old Testament and New.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Don't Dismiss Old Testament Principles: There may be blessings attached to living the way God has instructed, even in the Old Testament.

  2. Balance Knowledge and Action: Knowing where a Bible passage is located is great, but living out the principle is what truly matters.

  3. Seek Deeper Understanding: There's no limit to how deep we can go with God. Let's hunt down and chase after the blessings of God available to us.

Join us on this journey, and let's explore what God has for us together. If you have any stories or testimonies to share, hit us up on Instagram or email us. We'd love to hear from you.
